Sour Cream-Chocolate Chips Pound Cake

Over the weekends, I baked a Sour Cream-Chocolate Chips Pound Cake, by referring to another recipe from Lisa Yockelson's Chocolate Chocolate. I guess I must have been on a chocolate-high lately, this is the third week in a row that I blog about chocolate!

It's a simple recipe using ingredients like flour, sugar, butter, eggs, sour cream and chocolate chips. However, with the sour cream, the cake did not turn out as soft and moist as other similar recipes that I've tried before. Another shocker was the amount of sugar to be added, it calls for 3 cups of sugar and that supposed to go with 3 cups of flour! I quickly retrieved a few cake recipes by other authors and tried to figure out the ratio of flour to sugar. I then decided to cut down to 2 cups of sugar and fortunately it was not too sweet.

The final gripe I have about the cake is, well, I guess you can see it yourself, the chocolate chips sank to the bottom of the cake, instead of scattering around it.... I wonder why...

I love chocolate so keep them coming. Maybe the choc chips need to be tossed in flour before you mix them in the batter so they'll suspend in the cake rather than sink down?

Hi Boo,

Thanks for the tip. I've just re-visit the recipe and I realised that I actually missed out on that part about tossing choc chips in flour.. How silly can I be??

try baking it in a tray. spread half batter in tray and then scatter half choc chips. add remaining batter and scatter with remaining chips.
