TWD: La Palette’s Strawberry Tart
Marie of A Year From Oak Cottage has chosen a great recipe for all to try out this week. To me, a great recipe is something that we do not have to slog for hours in the kitchen and yet the end result is still yummy and satisfying. La Palette’s strawberry tart is one such recipe. The only baking required is the tart shell, and after that part is done, the rest of the process is a breeze!
I made a batch of sweet tart dough with nuts for the tart shell. Unfortunately, the sides of the baked shell was slightly burnt, because I forgot to check on it before the time is up. But it still looks edible to me though, so I left the shell to cool overnight and cut it into 4 quarters the next day. Then I spread one of the quarters with raspberry jam, and tried to cover the overly browned sides of the tart with chopped strawberry, hopefully it is not too obvious in the picture above. After that, I ground some black pepper on the tart, and it was then served with yoghurt instead of creme fraiche or whipped cream which is recommended in the book. I'm not sure if anyone has taken tarts with yoghurt, but since I have a big tub of cheesecake flavored yoghurt that I have been eating with strawberry since few days back, I thought it would be great to use it on the tart. The flavor complement the strawberry very well, I think.
The strawberry tart is yummy indeed, I like it so much that I had two slices (FYI, that's half of the tart) as lunch today. There goes my diet plan!
