TWD: Chocolate Amaretti Torte

Chocolatey pastries or desserts are something that I'm not particularly fond of, so I was actually thinking of giving chocolate amaretti torte a miss this week, since I won't be able to get Amaretti di Saronno in SA.

But after reading the P&Q from TWD site, I found out that some of the TWD-ers are making their own amaretti, so I decided to follow suit and made a batch of the cookies using a recipe from here.

My version of the cookies certainly looked very different from D. Lazzaroni's Amaretti di Saronno, but I guess it doesn't matter, because all that was required was the flavour.

The chocolate torte was very simple and it really took about 15 minutes to prepare, as what Dorie claimed. The cake was really moist and fudgy, and I'm sure that chocolate cake lovers would like it. But it's too rich for my liking and I literally shuddered when I took the first bite. That was all I had. I left a small slice for my hubby and gave the rest to my neighbour. Well, nothing's wrong with the recipe, it's just me. In fact, I think it would make a great dessert for potluck party or when there are guests coming over.

Head over to Holly's blog if you want to give the recipe a try!

Your torte is gorgeous! Great job. It was way too rich for me too. Maybe without the ganache I would have liked it.

ARGH! How I whish I could talk like you... with easiness and total detachement about chocolate! I'm jealous!!! LOL

But nahhh... I would bathe in it if I could! LOL

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy this, at least you have the fun of baking all those chocolate treats, and we have the pleasure of admiring them.

Lucky neighbors, to get this beautiful torte! Your cookies look perfect; I'm sure they're far more delicious than Lazzaroni's.

Your torte looks wonderful, too bad it wasn't to your liking. I don't care for a lot of chocolate either and so many of the recipes have it in them, LOL.

It does look rich and moist. Lots of chocolate. Sorry it wasn't your bag, but you did a great job on making your own cookies and the cake.

It may not have been your favorite, but it is stunning! It is so shiny and beautiful.
