TWD: Four Star Chocolate Bread Pudding

Lauren of Upper East Side Chronicle has chosen chocolate bread pudding for TWD this week. Even though it's yet another recipe that calls for chocolate, I still went ahead and gave it a try because I've not baked bread pudding before.

Using a 5-inch souffle dish, I made a quarter of the recipe and also substituted half of the raisins with dried cranberries. The bread pudding was not bad, but I would like it more if it's a non-chocolatey version. I'm glad that I included cranberries in it, as it lends a tangy flavour to the dessert.

Don't forget to check out Lauren's blog for recipe!

Beautiful photo! I am a fan on vanilla custard bread pudding, but I really liked this one too. It was even better drizzled with chocolate sauce or cream anglaise!

Looks excellent. I added some tart cherries to mine and it really helped brighten this up.

wow.

You can even make bread pudding look delicate! lol

I'm glad you enjoyed it (or I think you did, with the tanginess of the cranberries!)

I have to admit, it is nice to expand your knowledge, and make something for the first time. If if as simple as bread pudding.

Amanda - ah, I should have it with cream anglaise, that would taste so good!

Sara - I thought of using cherries as well but I couldn't find it in local stores. I bet your pudding must be really yummy.

Michelle - LOL! That happens to me very often too. ;-)

Vibi - Thanks for your compliment. I'm glad that I tried the recipe out, at least now i know how to make bread pudding!

Chocolatechic - The towel is pretty, isn't it? I got it from Japan.

Chris - Thanks for dropping by!

Your bread pudding looks fantastic!
I think I would like this with the cranberries in it as well but but not so sure I would like it without the chocolate. :) Beautiful photos!

Beautiful! I really appreciated the fruit, because it cut into the rich chocolatey taste.

Your photos are really beautiful and that's saying something because this was really tough to photograph :)

I think the cranberries were a good idea. I left the fruit out all together- but I love how you can see the little darts of red in your puddings!
looks so nice! and i can see those red cranberries!

Even though this one didn't do it for you, it looks like a picture out of a magazine! Perfect texture! Some other bakers made it with semi-sweet or even milk chocolate to cut the intensity of the chocolate flavor. I can't wait to see what you do next week with the third chocolate recipe in a row!

Boy, Piggy, you really nailed the presentation of this (as well as the baking - it looks like the perfect bread pudding consistency. I forgot the powdered sugar...

I'll have to say that I prefer non-choc bread pudding but I didn't have any trouble finishing mine!
