TWD: French Strawberry Cake

I've been wanting to make this French Strawberry Cake since a week back but I kept procrastinating until today, which is the day that all TWD-ers are supposed to post for TWD. It's not uncommon for me to whip up something at the very last minute but today is just not the day to do so. Since 9 o'clock in the morning, I have a few workers coming over to my apartment to repair my leaking bathroom. I was told that the repair would take the whole day but I was secretly hoping that it will end earlier than scheduled. By noon, they seemed to be only halfway through their work and that's when I decided to start working on my cake. Fortunately, I've baked the genoise the night before and so all I had to do was to macerate the strawberries, prepare the frosting and then decorate the cake so that it is fit for photo-taking. When the cake was properly decorated, I set up the table and started shooting away, and I could feel that the workers were looking at me with curious expressions!

Anyway, the French Strawberry Cake was delicious! Strawberries, cottony soft sponge cake and sinful whipped cream frosting - what's not to like?

Beautiful. Just beautiful.
My neighbors think I am strange when I bring food outdoors for pictures :-) But they know me, so maybe they have it right...
