TWD: Grandma’s All-Occasion Sugar Cookies
Participating in TWD event this week has given me the opportunity to use some cookies cutters that I've bought quite some time ago. It was not easy to remove the dough from the cutters because certain parts (e.g. like the elephant trunk) tend to tear easily. I had to re-roll the torn parts and re-cut many times before I realised that the only way to get some perfect shaped dough is to dunk the cookies cutters in the flour before cutting. The cookies were then decorated with icing, which looks rather awful to me, but the cute shapes of the cookies somehow made it up for my lack of decorating skills.
The simple cookies serves as a perfect base for decorating - you can cut the dough out in any shapes you want and decorate with icing or sprinkle with sugar. Or, if you want to make them more flavourful, you can add some lemon/ orange zest, or spices like cinnamon. The possibilites are endless!
Head over to Ostwestwind's blog if you want to give the recipe a try!
