TWD: French Pear Tart
TWD celebrates its first anniversary by inviting Dorie Greenspan, the author of the cookbook that we've been religiously bake and blog every Tuesday, to pick a recipe for this week. How cool is that!
I was excited to try out French pear tart that was chosen by Dorie. I love fruits tarts more than any other pastries, and poached pear coupled with almond cream sounds delicious! I intended to take the shortcut by using canned pears, but it's not available in the local supermarkets and so I resorted to poach the pears myself, which is something that I've not done before.
It's a relief to find out that poaching pears is not as difficult as I thought, in fact, 15 minutes was all I took to have 2 pears soaking in syrup. When that is done, I proceeded to prepare the partially baked tart shells (I made 3 tartlets) and almond cream. Then I kept the pears and almond cream in the fridge overnight, and the tartlets were assembled and baked today.
Dorie's right, the pear tarts were yummy indeed, they tasted so good that I forego my lunch and had two tartlets instead. ;-)
If you like fruits tarts as much as I do, this is the recipe that you wouldn't want to miss! Head over to Dorie's blog for recipe.
P.S. I just hopped over to TWD site and found out that Dorie has answered all the questions that has been put up in the weekly OSI survey, including mine! Well, that really makes my day!
