TWD: Dimply Plum Peach Cake
I was happy when I found out from TWD that the recipe chosen for this week is dimply plum cake. This is a recipe I've been dying to try out since I first saw the lovely picture in the book!
As good quality peaches are abundant in SA, using them in my baked goods is an obvious choice. The recipe calls for a 8-in square pan, but I used a 9-in pan instead. Hence, when the batter was spread on the pan, it looked rather thin and the height was shorter than the thickness of half a peach. So I had to cut the peaches into thin slices and arranged them into 3 rows on top of the cake, instead of arranging the halves of peaches on the batter, as instructed in the recipe.
I whipped some cream with orange blossom water to go with the cake. After taking a few quick snaps with my camera, I finished that whole piece of cake on the blue plate by myself. Well, that's half an hour after I had my lunch. I felt very guilty afterwards and I packed the remaining cake and let my hubby bring to his office the next day. :-P
